It is play through Bluetooth. If you use the phone jack it is analog so the DAC does not come into play. The Bluetooth would be digital,so the DAC would be involved, but the resolution would depend upon the source,i. Try it both ways and see what sounds best. Yes, it can, if both receivers are on the same wifi.

I was unable to verify the Onkyo Remote App's capability to identify and differentiate between two TX receivers on the same network. You can either use a different model network receiver and app for the second pair of speakers, or, you can contact Onkyo directly to see if they can confirm this capability in their control app: I hope that helps. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone or online chat.

The Onkyo is 4 Ohm stable so it will work with just about any tower speakers we offer. I hope that helps! I think it's a great product, overall. Photo preamp is powerful enough! The Onkyo -3 app leave a bit to be desired, but it works perfectly with Airplay, over Bluetooth, and other wireless, streaming services with no problems.

It powers two sets of hard-wired outdoor speakers on two levels of our townhouse with ease. Very powerful and warm sounding. I hope this helps! I play music from my phone through the blue-tooth connection have not tried to do it by usb.

I just tried to do that and didn't have any luck. If your phone has bluetooth - that works fine with the receiver. Download the Onkyo app. I didn't try too many settings with the phone when connected with the USB. I used the phone's play music app and the receiver did not recognize it as being connected.

Yes [ Jon Mar 23, ]. I am using the Zone 2 output to feed a 30 watt amp in bedroom and contoling the with iPad app.

The Zone 2 output appears to be standard, line-level via RCA female connectors. Music and news for the whole house! I checked the manual for any reference regarding outside environment conditions. However I know that weather conditions with high humidity will have a negative effect on electronic connectors, and components I would personally recommend not using this electronic device outside.

Note a Marine radio is for outside use and is especially designed and manufactured for that environment. This unit is not designed for either damp conditions or extreme temperatures hot or cold.

So it is not really suited to recurring use outside, even on a covered patio. Maybe once, on a pleasant day, for a special occasion -- but not routinely.

By the way, it is an exceptional receiver for normal indoor system use. Depending on where you live, I would say no. Outdoors there are temperature extremes and humidity that could affect the electronics.

This unit has computer parts,Bluetooth, wifi etc. Keep it indoors and route the speaker outputs to outdoor speakers designed to deal with weather extremes and it will be fine [ Butter Feb 24, ]. I ended up returning it because it was a nightmare trying to setup wifi and integrate with iTunes. It's good product if you have 's to early 's technology.. For a definitive answer, you will have to download the manual from onkyousa [dot] com. I can't give you the exact URL because Crutchfield's site does not allow one to include links to other sites.

You can choose which song but the navigation must be done with the remote control and it appears that I cannot select a different album to play without unplugging the usb and starting the play process again. For me this is not ready for prime time, usb wise.

The unit works great wifi connected to a computer. I've never used it that way. Don't know. Sorry for the delayed response. I haven't tried it myself as I need to procure the headphone jack to fit my Bose headphone. The combination really outmatched my expectation and It was really wonderful to listen to any kind of music.

Mainly hearing it on the nice wooden Focal speakers, gives a new natural experience of listening to live orchestra. The Onkyo gives u the flexibility to listen to direct ON mode, which bypasses the post processing of audio Bass and Treble and even that also is very nice. It should be good when listening to music from vinyl records. If you are buying it to feed your stereo speakers, then purchase good quality cables audioquest. Overall I could able to buy everything at Crutchfield at a very good price and it was delivered nicely.

I have not had a chance to try the headphones connection. Very pleased with other features. I'm sorry that I don't know the answer.

Obviously you can do it all from an outside source to the receiver, but I'm going to say no No you can't. This device acts as a receiver not a source. You'll need to hook up wired speakers to it using standard speaker cable. I don't think so.

It uses Bluetooth as an input, not an output. You might be able to purchase an adapter for that, though. I own this receiver and asked Crutchfield the same question. Here is the answer I received. Unfortunately no stereo I'm aware of can output over Bluetooth to a Bluetooth speaker. Connect that to the pre-amp zone 2 output on that receiver and it will send your music to whatever Bluetooth speaker you choose to pair with it.

No Needs to be hardwired [ Jon Dec 18, ]. Haven't tried it, but I don't think you can. YES [ A Feb 13, ]. A and B together or separate, 2 channels to 2 areas. This is a nice stereo networked wifi receiver for music the way it should be. And without all the overkill complexity of an AV receiver. You can do that with this receiver. Yes you can, Jim. I just installed my new receiver and it was an easy task I'm very happy with my purchase. Are you talking about bluetooth? Apple has widely disseminated info saying the max range of bluetooth is 33 feet.

If you need greater range, you should use AirPlay so music flows over your wireless network. Wireless does have better range, and sometimes can be used outside your house unless you have insulation that functions like a Faraday cage. Regarding the TX I bought one and returned it. I had a lot of trouble with the bluetooth; Onkyo's bluetooth implementation is much buggier than the Bose Mini Soundlink implementation.

I think the ' was rushed to market before proper testing; I also think its construction is somewhat cheap. Because the App works with your Wi-Fi, it is your router's range that that is most important. Once the receiver is networked with your router, streaming music is a breeze. I use Air Play because I have all Mac devises and my range is only limited by the location of the router.

They do make range extenders for routers but I have no experience with them. Distance would be more limited if you were using blue tooth wire-less. Hope this helps. Mark, I am unable to answer your question, for I sent my purchase of this receiver back because it just did not sound as good as I am use to from my old Sansui, sound quality is important to me and not so much all the bells and whistles these new receivers have.

Yes as long as you are able to be on the same wifi network. Dec 02, ]. All speakers are outside, as well, with Niles manual volume controls on each pair for instant volume control should we not have the app on a nearby device [ JON Dec 02, ]. The receiver is quite responsive via the app most days On occasion it hits a bit of interferience major metro area and our wireless network is split through three levels two routers do its optimal as can be.

The receiver is on the lowest level. Overall, it's fantastic and drives two discreet sets of stereo speakers Still have not been able to successfully stream my favorite internet stations, even after a phone consult with one of your advisors The short answer is no. I have the second version of the Onkio app. This what a Crutchfield rep helped me download. I have not explored other versions.

I like the amp, it works very well for my purposes. Just Zone 1 or 2 [ Perry Nov 17, ]. Maybe someone else had better luck. I have not tried that as of yet. Only using Bluetooth for tunes at the moment. Sorry, perhaps check the manual plz. I just checked; it appears not as I could not find a place in the app to do this. I bought this unit about a month ago. I love it. I don't have an answer to this specific question, but I know that i can use bluetooth to stream Spotfy to the unit and the manual says you can listen to a collection stored on your computer by linking them though I haven't tried.

Oct 27, ]. A stereo RCA jacks to 3. However, I was less than impressed with the bluetooth implementation; I ended up sending the back and getting a higher-quality receiver. FSorry, no experience with this arrangement. I use my mobile device iPhone to play iheartradio via bluetooth through this receiver. Yes to both options [ George Oct 27, ]. No, this is meant for a purist on a budget with a phono connection. However, if you switch to another app or once your iPhone auto-locks, you will have to disable Wi-Fi before.

The "Hi-Fi over Wi-Fi" listening experience is just a touch away, thanks to this handy app. Choose a speaker, choose a song, and your favorite tunes are streaming all through the house. The app offers built-in streaming options: stream from worldwide music services; connect to DLNA servers, or play anything from your device's music library.

You can either use a different model network receiver and app for the second pair of speakers, or, you can contact Onkyo directly to see if they can confirm this capability in their control app: Brand: Onkyo.
